- Ancient
Greece -
- One of the great paradoxes of history is that the next hesitant
advance of European civilization - the development of the first
city-states - took place not on the fertile open central European
plains, but in a remote island to the south of the Aegean Sea
which was completely lacking in metal resources. While the glittering
mounted warrior-princes of central Europe dissipated their creative
energy in warefare, a highly cultured yet peaceful society, built
on trade and an agricultural surplus, emerged on Crete. History,
mythology, art, culture and architecture.

- The Gower Peninsula, with the inclusion of Swansea, is one of
the greatest tourist magnets in Wales. Each summer countless thousands
are drawn to Gower by its golden bays, whilst Swansea also has
the appeal of its seaside charm and its strong affiliations with
the poet and author Dylan Thomas.
- Ancient
Sites of Britain -
- Stonehenge, Avebury and other Stone Circles. The British countryside
is littered with relics from prehistory. Some of these are just
bumps and ridges in the ground whilst others are huge standing
stones that have survived the test of time and human progress.
They belonged to a civilisation that spanned 2500 years yet left
no record of its existence beyond the remains of its ceremonial
centres, gathering places and burial sites. Thus, any theories
as to the shape of their culture and purpose of these sites is
pure conjecture allowing everyone from traditional archaeologists
through to new age fantasists to have their own personal hypothesis.

Wonders of the World -
- The ancient Greeks loved to compile lists of the marvellous
structures in their world. Though we think of the Seven Wonders
of the Ancient World as a single list today, there were actually
a number of lists compiled by different Greek writers. Antipater
of Sidon, and Philon of Byzantium, drew up two of the most well-known
lists. Many of the lists agreed on six of the seven items.
