renovated Elly's, which had been a small lake cottage. Grampa's,
Izaak Walton, the Fish n' Hunt Cabins, Art Gallery & model home
for Appalachian Log Homes were completed in '98. Other family

Valley Guest House -
- Cle Elum, Washington. The history of Hidden Valley is both
our mission and our dream. Simply, to create a life where we
behave responsibly in our duty towards our guests and our surroundings.
That extends to our relationships with our guests. Weāre kinda
all family here, and within the framework of our sense of service
our guests are not patrons, or clients, or sales units with
definable service lives. Youāre guests. It was always that way.
Tom Whited, the founder of Hidden Valley was an early Hollywood
cowboy, a friend and contemporary of Yakima Canutt, Slim Pickens.
An entertainer and a showman, and incidentally a hell of a cowboy.
They bought the land from the original homesteaders, the Evans
family (their pictures grace our walls throughout the ranch).
The Whiteds brought charm, talent and guts to the valley, and
their dream has lasted for many years. Before the Whiteds, the
DuPuis family, farmsteaders and all-around survivors lived here.

- Ohme
Gardens -
- Wenatchee. Washington State. Near Lake Chelan. Ohme Gardens,
perched high on a rock bluff overlooking the Wenatchee Valley,
is the achievement of sixty years of work by the Ohme family.
Their efforts have gradually transformed the once barren hill
into one of Americas leading gardens, visited by travelers from
around the world. Unlike a formal flower garden, Ohme Gardens
is completely natural in appearance, with emphasis on greenery.
Patterned after high mountain country, the grounds have a quiet,
restful beauty that isn't dependent on floral displays. The
evergreen trees and low-growing plants have been blended with
the existing rock formations to create effects varying from
the lush growth of rain forest to the variegated patterns of
an alpine meadow. Where once there was nothing but sagebrush
and dust, there is now shaded fern bordered pools with trickling
waterfalls. The once brown slopes are covered with a profusion
of greenery. The weathered rock formations emerge from the carpet-like
plantings. Groves of trees create shady glens and secluded hideaways,
and complete the mountain setting. The stone pathways wander
from one level to another, across irregular shaped lawns, to
the blue green ponds, rustic shelters, the famous wishing well,
and on to the highest point. Vista areas offer sweeping views
of the Wenatchee Valley, Columbia River, and Cascade Mountains.
Visitors may spend half an hour to half a day wandering in the
serene, peaceful atmosphere.
