strike brought the stampeders from the Klondike to Barnette's
Landing, now known as Fairbanks, on the Chena River.

- University of Alaska Museum -
- Alaska is a region unto itself. With vast archipelagos and more
coastline than the contiguous United States, its seas are among
the richest on Earth. The Americas were first peopled via this
region, and some aboriginal languages are still spoken. Written
history includes Russian America, the Gold Rush, and the North
Pacific Theater of World War II. The natural and cultural history
of this conduit between America and Asia makes the Museum a center
for study of the Far North, and a top attraction for visitors
to Alaska.
