Monmouth - Brick Township - Havens Homestead -

The first settlers of the Brick Township area arrived about 1750 and developed the local saw mill industry. Eventually, other timber-related industries would develop, including the pinewood (charcoal) and turpentine industries. At that time, the area was part of Monmouth County and Shrewsbury Township, and later it would become Howell Township.

Monmouth - Eastern Monmouth -

On June 14, 1928, a dozen Red Bank businessmen signed the papers of incorporation for the Chamber of Commerce of Red Bank. These founders are all long gone, as are many of their businesses, but one name is as well known in our organization today as it was many years ago - Maurice Schwartz, founder of M. Schwarz & Sons, Chrysler Plymouth dealers on Front Street. Third generation Jon and Jim Schwartz run the business today.

Welcome to the Water Witch House Bed and Breakfast Inn. It is situated on a gentle rise on the first ridge of the Highlands hills, giving an exciting vista of the town below the bluffs and all of Sandy Hook and Raritan Bays, the ocean and Sandy Hook with New York City beyond. This house is listed in the Monmouth County Survey of Historically and Architecturally Significant Sites. The Water Witch House is commonly known to the local people as "the hospital," where during the 1930s Dr. Mary Reed ran an obstetrical hospital to provide modern medical care for hundreds of local women and their babies.
