LEWIS & CLARK TRAIL

Lewis & Clark Trail -
The Lewis and Clark Trail is a driving route that follows the Missouri river. Markers along the trail keep you traveling in the right direction, and interpretive signs mark interesting sites and stories from the explorer's trip. The driving route uses major highways, however you'll find some of South Dakota's best scenery and local color by taking back-roads. So get off the beaten path when ever you can. You can rent a Lewis and Clark travel tape at any of the Information Centers along I-90 and I-29. Listen to stories about the Corps of Discovery as you drive the trail. State parks, Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds, and private resorts up and down the river provide accommodations and services. The four dams of the Missouri River in South Dakota -- Gavins Point, Fort Randall, Big Bend and Oahe -- are engineering feats. Be sure to tour at least one. For Additional information Visit the Web site http://www.state.sd.us Click on Game, Fish & Parks or call 800.710.2267.
